Portable NMR

Portable NMR is a rapidly growing field that has enormous potential to create completely unique products and solutions for a wide range of industries and technologies.

NMR is a powerful technique that is constantly limited by the need to bring the object under investigation to the instrument. This limits the size and types of objects and materials that can be studied by NMR and therefore restricts the potential of NMR techniques for solving industrial problems.

Magritek portable NMR technology realises the promise of taking the NMR instrument to the sample, significantly increasing the potential for NMR solutions to industrial problems.

Magritek technology facilitates NMR portability in a number of ways:

A one sided NMR probe enables NMR of samples outside the probe up to a depth of 50 mm. This permits NMR to be performed on large samples where sample access is highly restricted. Examples include concrete, food or even wood. An NMR moisture meter based on this technology is currently under development
The LapSpec portable spectrometer technology enables a complete pulsed NMR platform to be realised in a single slim modular package.
The Kea modular spectrometer is slightly larger, but still very portable and used for applications where flexibility is required.
Our Earth's field NMR and MRI and Terranova-MRI technology enables the possibility of on-site NMR using only the globally available magnetic field of the Earth. The low frequency enables NMR or MRI on samples surrounded by metal.

Potential applications in manufacturing, construction and industrial processing are currently being developed.
